Race to Beat Cancer 5K

One of the top hospitals in Washington, D.C., MedStar Washington Hospital Center has been serving patients in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland for more than 50 years with research, education, and care. For three years, Graphcom has partnered with the hospital to oversee, grow, and expand the Four Seasons Hotel 5K race, in participation with MedStar Washington Hospital Center, to generate more participants, sponsors, and ultimately more funding for cancer research at MedStar Washington Cancer Institute.

• We established a new logo, branded website, and improved social media presence.
• We instituted team fundraising via Active.com and improved the finish line race experience, disposable chip timing on bibs, and race day registration.
• We coordinated everything, including routes, permitting, special event licensing, budgeting, and working with local authorities and neighborhoods to secure necessary permissions.
• We provided race promotion, publicity, and outreach, including email newsletters, advertising, media coordination, collateral design, and more.
• We managed fundraising and sponsorship outreach with committee members and online vendors.
• We provided race management services, including volunteer coordination, photography, course markers, parking, registration, post-race clean up, evaluation, and more.
• In the two years since partnering with us, race registration increased by 86%. In 2015 alone, we helped to raise:

  • $41,250 through sponsorships
  • $81,681 total funds
  • $57,509.70 total net for Washington Cancer Institute
